Emmer for Governor

Promising to “listen, then listen again, and only then, to talk,” Republican candidate for Governor Tom Emmer announced the “Freedom and Prosperity Project” that will be the centerpiece of his campaign.

Emmer and his running mate Annette Meeks held a press conference Wednesday at the Capitol to outline the Freedom and Prosperity Project, which will feature town hall-style meetings across the State to gather ideas from Minnesotans, and ask citizens to share their priorities and vision for Minnesota’s future.

Lieutenant Governor Candidate Meeks will take a leading role in the Freedom and Prosperity Project. Meeks, who founded the Freedom Foundation think tank, was one of the lead authors on the Center of the American Experiment’s Policy Blueprint for Minnesota, a comprehensive program for government reform published in 1998.

“It’s time to ensure that government works for the people, not the other way around. That’s why our team has launched a statewide listening tour,” said Emmer. “Only by listening first can government work the way it’s supposed to.”

“We will develop our policy agenda guided by our core principles of limited government, economic freedom, and individual liberty. Government needs to be redesigned and reformed; only by listening to the people can we ensure that the reforms meet the needs of Minnesotans,” Emmer concluded.

Meeks added, “I am excited to take a leading role in the Freedom and Prosperity Project. Over the next several months Tom and I will meet with thousands of Minnesotans and work together with them to build a policy agenda for the Emmer administration.”

The first Freedom and Prosperity Project events will focus on the economy and job creation with other issues added during the next few months.
