Republican candidates across Minnesota filed for office as a united team.
In a move demonstrating their unified message and commitment to working together, Republican candidates from across the state filed for office as a group Tuesday morning.
A parade of candidates running for all levels of office, from the State House all the way to Governor lined up at the Secretary of State’s office to formally file for office, ensuring they appear on the ballot this election season.
The joint filing contrasts starkly with the Minnesota Democrats. While Republicans are united behind a statewide ticket with no significant challenges, the Democrats face a fierce primary with a number of candidates.
Republicans are running as a unified team. Tom Emmer and Annette Meeks are the Party’s candidates for Governor and Lieutenant Governor. Pat Anderson is the endorsed candidate for State Auditor. Chris Barden is the endorsed candidate for Attorney General, and Dan Severson is the endorsed candidate for Secretary of State.
Rep. Tom Emmer answers press questions with dozens of Republican candidates.
The Republican Party has a tradition of abiding by the candidate endorsement process. The Democrats often choose their candidates in the primary election, often passing over the Democrat-endorsed candidate.
“Minnesota’s Republicans are strongly united behind the endorsed candidates,” said Tom Emmer. “We are united by a common set of principles and a common vision for the future.”
“Republicans stand for Freedom and Prosperity, Minnesota values for Minnesota’s future. In this campaign we will be promoting a policy agenda that aims to encourage limited government, economic freedom, and individual liberty,” concluded Emmer.
The Minnesota primary election is held on August 10th, and the general election is held on November 2nd this year.
