The Emmer Prosperity Project
Tom Emmer announced today he will meet with local business owners in the Western suburbs as he convenes the next meeting of his Prosperity Project on Friday, April 23, 2010. Rep. Emmer created the Prosperity Project as a way to get people engaged with their government. “Too often our job providers are told from Washington or from St. Paul how to run their businesses,” Emmer said. “It should be the opposite. Our job providers and entrepreneurs need to be at the table shaping policies that help spur job growth and economic development.”
What: Prosperity Project Meeting
When: Friday April 23, 2010 — 8:00 – 9:30 am
Where: Automation and Control System Solutions
6868 Washington Ave South
Eden Prairie, MN 55344
Last week, Emmer held the first two meetings of the Prosperity Project in Burnsville and Mankato. Leaders from finance, health care, mining, telecommunications and retail industries attended to provide input and suggestions for needed reform. Ideas ranged from freeing up the capital markets to significant regulatory reform.
Last week’s discussion helped inform and enhance several policy statements that have been developed on the Emmer for Governor website on jobs, taxes and education. Feedback from future meetings of the Prosperity Project will help enhance other policy statements.
“Tom Emmer is a leader who brings the best and brightest together to establish smart, sensible solutions,” said Rep. Laura Brod (R-New Prague), who is facilitating the events. “Tom understands the best ideas will come from outside government, from the people actually creating jobs and doing the work.”
Today’s event is part of a series of Prosperity Project events the Emmer for Governor Campaign will host around Minnesota in the coming weeks and months.
