Emmer for Governor

Showing strong statewide support from the Republican Party’s top grassroots leaders, Rep. Tom Emmer unveiled his Congressional District leadership team today, featuring four of the eight current Republican Party Congressional District chairs and three Deputy Congressional District Chairs. Emmer also announced that Rep. Mark Buesgens, his colleague in the Minnesota House, will serve as Campaign Chairman.

“We are attracting the top grassroots leadership in the state to our team because we share a common vision for governing this state and they know we can win in November,” said Emmer. “Under Mark Buesgens’ leadership, this experienced group of Congressional District chairs is building the organization necessary to deliver the endorsement.”

The Emmer for Governor Congressional District Leadership Team includes:

• First District: Jon Kovaciny, Blue Earth County Republican Party Deputy Chair.
• Second District: Brad Johnson, Senate District 35 Republican Party Chair.
• Third District: Rick Weible and Margaret Cavanaugh, Co-Chairs of the Third Congressional District Republicans.
• Fourth District: Bev Aplikowski, Fourth District Republican Party Chair.
• Fifth District: Adam Weigold, Fifth District Republican Party Deputy Chair.
• Sixth District: David FitzSimmons, Sixth District Republican Party Chair and Joe Westrup, Sixth District Republican Party Deputy Chair.
• Seventh District: Craig Bishop, Seventh District Republican Party Chair.
• Eighth District: Steve Baker, Isanti County Republican Party Chair.

Emmer said the Congressional District chairs are working with the campaign to recruit and train local party leaders in every senate district, house district, and county organization in an effort to turn out supporters to the precinct caucuses on February 2, 2010.

This is the second recent announcement regarding Emmer’s campaign organization. On November 9th, Emmer announced the support of eight of his colleagues in the Minnesota Legislature. More announcements are expected in advance of the precinct caucuses.
