Tom Emmer today added campaign veteran Bill Walsh to his campaign to be Minnesota’s next governor. Walsh will be Deputy Campaign Manager for Communications.
Walsh is a veteran of several statewide campaigns including the Republican takeover of the Minnesota House in 1998 and the election of Governor Tim Pawlenty and Sen. Norm Coleman in 2002. He served as communications director, deputy executive director and executive director of the Republican Party of Minnesota. He has served in various senior staff levels during both terms of the Pawlenty administration.
Walsh will oversee all campaign communications, including the Emmer campaign’s emphasis on interactive media.
“Bill is one of the most experienced campaign operatives in Minnesota today,” Emmer said. “I’m pleased to add him to my team.”
Walsh, 44, lives in White Bear Lake with his three children. He is taking a four-month leave of absence from his job as Director of Communications and Federal Liaison for the Minnesota Department of Education.
