One of my favorite parts of campaigning for governor is traveling around the state meeting with people and learning about what’s happening in their lives, in their communities. This week my wife Jacquie and I will join the Republican candidates for Minnesota’s constitutional offices on a statewide bus trip, beginning on Wednesday. We will be traveling to almost every corner of the State – at least as much as we can cram into a 3 day extravaganza – to meet as many Minnesotans as possible.
Jacquie and I will be traveling with my running mate, Annette Meeks, Chris Barden, Minnesota’s next Attorney General, Pat Anderson, our once and future State Auditor, and Dan Severson, our next Secretary of State. We will be stopping in 20 cities along the way, so please come out to meet us when we come your way. The complete schedule can be found below.
The Freedom and Prosperity bus tour promises to be a lot of fun. But we also have a very serious message to communicate with Minnesotans.
Minnesota’s government finances are in serious trouble. State spending has literally doubled in the last decade. State spending cannot continue on auto-pilot with annual double digit increases.
The future is ours for the taking – the future is bright for Minnesota if we are willing to take a positive approach to the challenges ahead. We must redesign government to provide the services citizens expect in an efficient, affordable and sustainable manner. At the same time, we must create a business environment that will allow our existing employers to not only survive, but to once again thrive. A stable and predictable state government will lead to a stable and growing private sector. This is the recipe for success. This is the future we offer.
