Tom Emmer’s budget cuts $1.8 billion from education spending.
Once again the Alliance For a Better Minnesota (ABM), a DFL and family front group for Senator Mark Dayton, releases a whopper of an ad. After receiving an “F” grade from KSTP in one of their earlier ads, they are out with a new spot trying to beat that grade by lying about Tom Emmer’s budget and policy plans for education.
For every dollar the state puts in, Minnesota will receive $7–7.50 back from the federal government for early enrollment.
According to Minnesota Management and Budget (MMB), the state will save $430 million in the general fund over the next three years by not early-enrolling in Medicaid.
Tom Emmer wants to eliminate Local Government Aid
Tom Emmer is the author of the Minnesota Fair Plan, a bill that would institute a new program to replace (not eliminate) the current system of local government aid (LGA). The Bill was HF 339 of the 86th Legislative Session of the Minnesota Legislature.
Tom Emmer said he will cut $20 billion from the state budget.
Tom Emmer has never said he will cut $20 billion from the state budget. In fact, he said we “can reduce government easily by 20% in the next four years – easily.” In a classic case of cherry picking part of a quote out of context, Tom’s opponents and the media have started to repeat this claim as a talking point.
