MinnPost:
Republican gubernatorial candidate Tom Emmer received an award for his 100 percent legislative voting record in support of the agenda of National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), but not a formal endorsement … not yet, anyway.
Before behind handed the “Guardian of Small Business” award, Emmer, the state representative from Delano, met with and answered questions from about two dozen members of the Minnesota NFIB’s leadership council at the Capitol today.
Minnesota Public Radio:
A new MPR News-Humphrey Institute poll shows Democrat Mark Dayton and Republican Tom Emmer running neck and neck in the 2010 race for governor.
Independence Party candidate Tom Horner trails Dayton and Emmer significantly, but with a little more than two months to go before Election Day, a lot of Minnesotans are still undecided.
The poll shows Emmer and Dayton are deadlocked each with 34 percent support. Horner had 13 percent support.
Minneapolis Star Tribune:
Republican candidate for governor Tom Emmer Wednesday said he'd received the nod from the Associated Builders and Contractors.
In making the announcement, Emmer said, “I am humbled by the support of the Associated Builders and Contractors and by the hardworking small businesspeople they represent. They understand that it’s not government but businesses which create jobs and opportunities for working Minnesota.”
Minneapolis Saint Paul Business Journal:
Republican candidate Tom Emmer said the best way for government to help create jobs is by staying out of the way of local businesses.
“You have to invest in border-to-border job growth, and you do it by reducing taxes and eliminating regulations. … We need to take the yoke of government off the economic horses in this state and let them run again,’ he said.

The first Emmer for Governor ad focuses on Tom Emmer’s message of creating jobs, cutting taxes and reforming government. “Tom Emmer knows that our state faces many challenges in the years ahead and none is more pressing than putting people back to work,” said Campaign Manager Cullen Sheehan. “Building a business friendly environment, redesigning the way our government works and reforming education are all critically important goals for Tom Emmer. He knows, as Minnesotans know, that what we’ve been doing isn’t working. The same old solutions of the past that other candidates are offering will only give us the same results. “It’s time for a new direction!”
